Tributes Paid to Green Champion Ted Kennedy Across the Blogosphere : TreeHugger
Tributes Paid to Green Champion Ted Kennedy Across the Blogosphere : TreeHugger
I'm watching the Ted Kennedy funeral as I type this.
However one feels about this man, personally or politically, there is no doubt that he made an impact on his world.
I was pleased to discover this TreeHugger tribute and learn that Kennedy made an impact in OUR world. RIP.

"Google's Hal Varian would likely have raised an eyebrow at a term paper submitted by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on the search market."
Interesting article - especially as SEM evolves.

Social Media Webinar- A sucker's born every day, right?
I attended a social media webinar today - it was 3pm, I was in my pajamas and working from my living room couch. I love my life : )
The fellow leading the discussion was smart enough, seemed sincere enough, but honestly, I didn't really learn anything.
I thought I'd learned about some emerging social media opportunities, but when I visited these recommended sites, I wasn't impressed. Check them out & make your own decision - biznik and q-alias.
There are new social media sites built and marketed everyday along with some very nice swamp land in Florida. What I learned from today's social media webinar was that I spent over an hour listening to a prolonged commercial for a consulting company that basically provides the same services that I provide - or at least some of the services that I provide - social media strategy, creation and management for businesses and individuals.
There were over 1000 others who attended today's webinar. I wonder how many of them researched the speaker's content, claims and recommendations. Think, people! Use your minds!

EDF Explains Cap & Trade
Environmental Defense Fund talks about cap & trade - read this now because you're going to want to know how carbon caps work.
Twitter is King
Twitter is all the buzz these days. I kind of enjoyed the old days when it was new. The beauty of new media, though, is watching natural selection play out.
The strongest communications vehicles survive. So, a vehicle that has good design, is easy to navigate, has multiple uses for multiple generations and is actually FUN to use is going to be in my PR arsenal in whatever its current form.

Rubicon White Paper - Interesting
On this beautiful, "cold outside but warm in" morning, I'm drinking a large cup green tea and reading Rubicon's White Paper that explores the way online community affects business.
The paper was published in 10/08 and I wonder as I read: In today's virtual world, how long does information/research remain relevant and who's responsible for the updates?

So, my updates on this blog have been through Twitter : )
I've recently had the most incredible conversations about social media & microblogs....
... am so amused by PR & Marketing professionals who preach social media "rules."
Guess what? There are no rules for evolving technology.
You use the technology in the way that works for you, for your business and/or your non-profit.
A good communications expert should be able to figure out what those rules are - for themselves and for their clients. That's all I have to say about that : ) here anyway : )

Lots of interesting conversations about Twitter this morning.
Do you Twitter? www.twitter.com
For me, Twitter is a great platform to quickly share client information to an expanded audience.
For me, Twitter is also an effective tool to drive readers to a web site and/or generate interest in an upcoming event and/or organization.
A fast way to check the pulse on current news, Twitter allows the opportunity to ask questions and receive quick answers from a variety of folks.
In that way, Twitter literally saves me time - so, I'm amazed when I hear comments from my friends about not having time to "waste" on Twitter (or Facebook or LinkedIn, for that matter.)
I truly believe that that most of the free, available communications platforms can easily be customized for the user's goals. Some people use Twitter for personal messages, some for business or some, like me, for both. My Tweets are as likely to announce a client event as they are to channel a (hopefully) creative thought.
Oz is dead because Twitter, and Facebook and LinkedIn exposed the wizard behind the screen.
In 2009, we're playing on a level communications field with so many free virtual outlets to share your message. You literally can reach exponential numbers of people now - AND your targeted audience. You just need to decide how you're going to leverage the plethora of availa
